Responsible Trading

Everyone in business is in it to make profits and keep themselves and hopefully others in employment. Without profits there is no sustainability and without sustainability there is no economic contribution to society, so you could say that the main contribution a business can make to society is to make profits, pay taxes and spend money within the economy.  With a couple of tweaks this can be turned into a socially responsible trading.  For example using fair trade products and suppliers, paying less tax by donating to local charities, or donating the tax you save by gift aiding your donations.

Fair Trade Fair trade, not just the coffee, tea or biscuits, but being aware of your supply chain and the costs involved and the sources of your raw materialsSupporting local charities Not just giving money, but most organisations appreciate time donated. How about taking part in a sponsored event.         Gift aid - avoid the tax There are legal ways to pay less tax.  For example gift aiding your donations means that the charity can get the tax back.  Why not look into give as you earn schemes for your staff.
